12 – 19 July 2012 – A lazy week in Taichung
I did literally nothing the whole week. Once I wanted to go hiking in the mountains near Taichung the scooter broke down and I had to go to a repair station. Luckily he could fix the scooter and I was glad to handle even a scooter repair without speaking any Chinese. One again I got a feeling for the unbelievable hospitality of Taiwan. Not only that he fixed my scooter immediately but they offered me a tee while waiting and gave me a can of tee to go. Taiwan is a country where hospitality reaches another dimension.
20 – 21 July 2012 – Taipei
Longshan Temple
Just another temple… the first is impressive, the second is ok but than it becomes boring! Probably the same with churches in Germany! A little bit weird for me was the fact that they sacrifice crisps, coke, water bottles and other things from the supermarket.
Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
Actually I didn’t expect much when I went there but it was not just another temple, the CKS Memorial was really big and very beautiful!
On the next picture you might see the worker… just to get you a feeling for the size of the building.
Martyrs Shrine
“Goldelse”
Doesn’t she look a bit like the Goldelse in Berlin?
101
The second highest building in the world and the fastest elevator besides. Awesome view, best weather and unbelievable high! But there is one higher building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Luckily I will be there tomorrow…
Taipei at night
On the way back to my luxurious hostel…
I took some pictures of the lit-up buildings.
Next (and last) stop Dubai…
