1 April 2012 – “Die Burschen” from Vina del Mar
After 2 sunny days with Yassine in Santiago, we decided to go to Vina del Mar to enjoy the Pacific Ocean. As in Vina del Mar is one of the five “Burschenschaften” (German fraternities) of Chile, we stayed at there very nice house for 3 nights, with their private chef, who made lunch and dinner for them and us. But the weather was very bad. However, “google” told us that there is sun in Vina del Mar and there was sun, from 5-7 in the evening. Nevertheless, we went swimming for about 5 seconds and enjoyed the sunset at the beach. At the next day I got a little bit sick, probably because of the ice-cold Pacific Ocean or the rapid climatic change (first time less than 25 °C on my trip).
2 April 2012 – Valparaiso
Since the weather was not good enough for the beach, we took a bus to Valparaiso and stayed there until late night to enjoy the nightlife.
3 April 2012 – No Sun, no Beach, no Vina del Mar
Even on the third day the weather was awful, clouds until 4 PM and sun for only one or two hours in the evening. Bad luck with the weather this time. We walked though the city, ate some Chilean “pancakes” (very good and only 30 €-cents) and waited for the night-bus to Pucon.
4 April 2012 – Pucon without Volcano
Actually I wanted to climb the Villarrica Volcano close to Pucon at the next day but the weather was not too bad and the tour wasn’t offered. As the city was boring and no people were there because of the low season in fall, we just hided in the direction of the Volcano, slept the night in a hostel and went further to San Marin de los Andes at the next morning.
5 April 2012 – No Season –> No People in San Martin de los Andes
After another 6 hrs bus-ride, at least 1 hour for the boarder crossing, we arrived in San Martin de los Andes, a very touristic village in Argentina. The landscape during the bus-ride was very nice but the rain in San Martin obviously not. The city was empty and there was nothing special to do. “Let’s go to Bariloche.” Sometimes we thought about renting a car to go to Patagonia but it would have been too expensive.
Next stop Bariloche, Argentina…
